Share to

Snorkeling in Bali is one of the most exciting water activities that become a favorite for travelers around the globe. Some of its most breathtaking sites may be found underwater. Without further ado, here are the top most devastating snorkeling sites in Bali for an amazing experience!

Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is the core of Bali's diving vacation industry, with multiple major family-friendly resorts and much to explore in terms of local life. With so many more intriguing beaches to pick from, it's not a place we usually recommend for lodging, but it does provide some of the island's most accessible snorkeling, making it an excellent starting point for beginners and children. Much of the shoreline here features high swells and strong currents, but with Nusa Dua reef producing a natural break, you'll find easy shallow snorkeling areas around Tanjung Benoa to the north of Nusa Dua and Geger Beach to the south. Are you new to snorkeling in Bali? No worries. Because of the calm waters amid its reefs, it's a good area to start for novices and children.

Amed

Amed's spectacular black sand beaches are located on the island's northeastern coast. Set in the shadow of Mount Agung, the location provides excellent diving and snorkeling in Bali as well as easy access to inland excursions including climbing, rafting, and bicycling. The tranquil villages depict a more true Balinese way of life, in stark contrast to the overcrowded south. The quiet and clean waters of Amed provide ideal conditions for divers and snorkelers of all abilities. Jemeluk Bay's near-perfect sheltered cove is great for beginner snorkelers, with captivating macro life found on the coral reefs directly in front of your resort.

Menjangan

Given its smaller crowds and scenic beauty, this hidden gem is one of the top sites for snorkeling in Bali. When you go snorkeling in Menjangan, you will be surrounded by gigantic coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, and colorful fish. Turtles, reef sharks, rays, nudibranchs, and shrimp are among the marine fauna found here. Its waters are warm, tranquil, and clear year-round due to its location within a natural shelter, making it one of Bali's greatest and most accessible diving and snorkeling destinations.

Candi Dasa

Candi Dasa is located on Bali's southeastern shore. It's a laid-back place that, like Amed and Menjangan, feels a world away from the crowded resorts of southern Bali. It is also an excellent location for underwater research and water activities in Bali, thanks to its generally secluded black sand beaches and a variety of superb resorts. The surrounding 'blue lagoon' at Padang Bai is a protected cove rich in coral and tropical fish that is particularly appealing to first-time snorkelers. Padang Bai, as a popular village port, is also a starting point for day journeys to the Nusa islands or further afield to the Gili Islands off the coast of Lombok. Hikes and cycling excursions can also be organized in the nearby undulating hills of Sidemen.

Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Penida

The 'Nusa islands,' which include Lembongan and Penida, are two tiny outposts off Bali's southern coast. Most visitors will come here as a day trip from one of Bali's southern beaches, a 45-minute speedboat transfer from Sanur or Padangbai, but dedicated snorkelers and divers may choose to stay here, with numerous excellent resorts on more developed Lembongan and a handful of simple accommodation on laidback, rugged Penida. The main attraction here is 'Manta Point,' located right off the coast of Penida, where you can swim with massive reef manta rays.
